Betting Experts Like Steelers At Super Bowl XLV
Super Bowl XLV is just around the corner as the big Sunday approaches, Las Vegas experts and betting analysts all seem to be a bit perplexed: why are the Pittsburgh Steelers an underdog the Super Bowl line?
Without a doubt, the Green Bay Packers have been outstanding through the latter part of December and through the first three rounds of the postseason. They have won three road games while the Steelers have earned both of their wins at home. There’s no question that quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been phenomenal throughout that span as well.
But when you start to look at the numbers, how is it that the Steelers are not even a favorite?
For starters, Pittsburgh won more regular season games than Green Bay and while the Packers just squeaked into the playoffs with a No. 6 seed, the Steelers finished the regular season 12-4 and were the No. 2 in the AFC.
Secondly, the Steelers are in fact the far more experienced team as 25 players have played in the NFL’s championship game whereas the Packers have just two players with such experience. The Steelers will be playing in their third Super Bowl in six seasons.
Lastly, the injury factor has to come into play. The Packers have placed 14 players on injured reserve this season – including four of their opening-day starters. On a stage of this magnitude, the difference between winning and losing is marginal and the Packers may realize just how much they miss some of those contributors.
The Steelers should be favored and since they are the underdog, a lot of experts making them the pick.
We’ll find out what really happens this Sunday, February 6th, when the two teams kickoff the 2011 Super Bowl.
