WINTER OLYMPICS 2010: Great Britain’s women curlers are left needing snookers
The hopes of Britain’s curling women are hanging by a thread after a 10-6 defeat by Switzerland. It was their fourth defeat and left them having to rely on results elsewhere to qualify for the semi-finals. Britain, skipped by 19-year-old Eve Muirhead, got off to a bad start as the Swiss took a 2-0 lead in the first end.
The biggest blow came in the fourth end when Swiss skip Mirjam Ott delivered a double takeout and added her stone to three others already in a scoring position. Muirhead’s draw into the house with her hammer was too light and the Swiss stole four more points to take an 8-1 lead.
